Accessibility

We work to make this website, our buildings, and our programs usable for every Knight. If you hit a barrier, tell us, and we will fix it.

Our commitment

West Central Area School District is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible learning environment for students, families, employees, and the public. That commitment covers both our physical facilities and our digital communications.

  • Federal law. We follow Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which together require equal access to school district programs, services, and activities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Digital standard. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA across this website. New content is built to that standard; legacy pages are remediated on an ongoing basis.
  • Physical access. All three district buildings have ADA-compliant entrances, restrooms, and assembly spaces. Temporary or event-specific accommodations are arranged through the building principal.

If something on this site is not working for you, or if a building or program is not meeting your access needs, we want to hear about it. The contact information is below.

Request an accommodation or alternative format

Any document, image, video, or program on this site can be provided in an alternative format on request. Examples include large-print, plain-text, audio recording, captioning, ASL interpretation, or a translated copy.

  • How to request. Call or email the ADA Coordinator (contact below). Please describe the page or document you need and the format that works for you.

  • Response time. We respond within two business days and provide the requested format within ten business days, sooner whenever possible. Time-sensitive items (a notice for a meeting later that week, for instance) are prioritized.

  • No cost to you. Auxiliary aids and services are provided at no charge to the individual or family making the request.

How to file a concern

If you believe the district has not met its accessibility obligations, you have the right to file a grievance under ADA Title II (28 C.F.R. § 35.107).

  1. Step 1: Notify the ADA Coordinator. Use the contact information above. A written complaint is preferred but not required; we will help you put your concern in writing if you ask. Include what happened, when, and what resolution you are looking for.
  2. Step 2: Investigation. The ADA Coordinator (or a designee with no conflict of interest) acknowledges your complaint within five business days and completes the investigation within thirty calendar days unless the matter is complex.
  3. Step 3: Written response. You receive a written decision describing findings and any corrective action. If you are not satisfied, you may appeal in writing to the Superintendent within ten business days.
  4. Step 4: External review. You may file a complaint at any time, with or without using the internal process, with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights:
    https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/complaintintro.html
OCR Chicago Office (serves Minnesota): 230 South Dearborn Street, Suite 3008, Chicago IL 60604, phone 312-730-1560.

The district will not retaliate against anyone for filing a complaint or participating in an investigation. Retaliation is itself prohibited under the ADA and Section 504.
